APG Development Looking Ahead to 2023

As we close out 2022, APG Development is pleased to share the news that site work is well underway at Edgewater Commons in Raleigh.

Edgewater Commons, a mixed-use development situated on approximately 60 acres at the intersection of New Bern Ave and North Rogers Lane in Raleigh, is fully entitled for up to 700 multifamily units, plus 220,000 square feet of neighborhood commercial and retail space.

The project will be completed in several phases, with Phase 1 including site improvements creating several parcels allowing for residential and commercial uses, along with a 301-unit apartment community, “The Barlowe at Edgewater Commons”, as well as a 105+/- townhome community for rent, “The Townes”.

The Barlowe’s “Manor Building” will house onsite leasing and management, club and game rooms, a fitness center, multi-function fitness areas, internet café and coworking space, along with a mailroom and packaging center.  Additional amenities will include a swimming pool, bike storage, a car wash and a dog park along direct access to the Neuse River Greenway.

The Townes, currently being planned, includes a clubhouse, swimming pool, outdoor gathering space along with on-site leasing, management and maintenance.

The General Contractor for the Phase 1 multi-family projects is Harold K. Jordan & Co., Inc., a Raleigh-based GC with a 30-year history of building luxury residential projects throughout the Carolinas and Virginia.  The company’s lengthy resume includes several local projects: The Sojourn, a 296-unit mixed-use property situated inside the Beltline at 3710 Glenwood Ave; The Piedmont, a 398-unit Mid-Rise project in North Raleigh on Triangle Promenade Drive; and the Flats at Lakeview Towers in Durham, a 291-unit property at 2610 Erwin Rd, situated immediately adjacent to Pavilion East-Exchange, a mixed-use property developed by APG Capital.

2023 will see exciting progress at Edgewater Commons!

A bit of history for you…  The name The Barlowe at Edgewater Commons was inspired by historical figure, English explorer Arthur Barlowe, who was on the 1584 expedition to Roanoke Island appointed by Sir Walter Raleigh. The Neuse River, which runs along the easternmost border of Edgewater Commons, was named by Arthur Barlowe in 1584.

The Neuse, derived from the Native American Neusiok tribe and translating to ‘peace’ – is an excellent recreational river to experience and explore, linking North Carolina’s original capital city of New Bern to its current capital of Raleigh.
